Week 3. Segment 2: Introduction to assemblies and assembly constraints

During this segment we will introduce assemblies and assembly constraints 
Goals:
  • Understand what an assembly is
  • Learn to properly apply constraints between parts within an assembly
Materials for this segment:
  • Please watch the video on the right prior to class.
  • Use the built in tutorials in Inventor to learn more about assemblies.

Deliverable 1 is due (3.2% of the grade).  This deliverable consists of modeling this shoulder bolt as well as a matching nut and washer. The models need to closely resemble the objects shown on the technical drawings. Students will submit all three models as PDF files to Canvas. The PDFs must be uploaded before the deadline.

Grading:
  • If the PDF has all the content requested above you get 90 points.
  • If the bolt is nicely detailed (knurled head etc...) you get a 100 points.
Late submissions:
  • Up to one hour: 10 pts penalty.
  • Later than one hour: 20 pts penalty.
