Week 13: Segment 2: USe of Power SAving Sleep Modes on the Arduino

This segment focuses on using power saving sleep modes on the Arduino. The various sleep modes will be discussed and the most power saving sleep mode "Power Down" will be demonstrated in the tutorial. A current measurement demonstrates the power savings potential.

Goals:

  • Understand how Arduino sleep modes work.
  • Learn to use the "Power Down" sleep mode and an external interrupt as wake-up mode.

Materials for this segment:
  • Watch the video on the right 
  • Arduino sketch featured in the video (see link below video).
  • The ATmega328p data sheet. Read Chapter 9, where power management and the sleep modes are discussed.
