Week 15. Deliverable 7:
Deliverable 7 is in lieu of a final exam. It will count 50% towards your final grade. This is the final product of the course. All students need to have their projects finalized and be able to present them 'in action' during the last class meeting. The successful presentation of the project (Deliverable 7a) will represent the most significant part of the Deliverable grade (30% of final grade). Make sure that your projects are complete and that there are no loose ends. Only 100% awesome projects will be considered for our Awesome Prizes.
Additional Deliverable 7 Items (due in the Finals Week on Thursday 11:59 pm - this will give you some additional time that you can focus on awesomizing your projects for the presentation):
Deliverable 7b (10% of final grade): Final Project Video
All students will submit a 3 min (max) video showcasing the completed project. The videos must be uploaded before the deadline to the corresponding Canvas Assignment. All videos must be in at least 1280 x 720 pixel HD mp4 format and use the title template posted below at the beginning, and the author of the video must introduce him/herself at the beginning.

The video needs to show the following:
Deliverable 7c (10% of final grade): Publish an Instructable about your project (you need to make an account at instructables.com for this if you do not have one already):
Grading:
Late submissions: We will not accept late submissions for Deliverables 7a and 7b.
- A brief (30s) intro to your project. Show your 3D simulation and show/explain briefly what the object does.
- A summary (30s) of the control system. Use a block diagram of the circuit and review which parts do what.
- Show your device in action and demonstrate all features. Explain what is going on (2 min). Make sure that you use a nice homogeneous background behind your device. A large piece of white cardboard or a bed sheet work pretty well. Ensure that the device is well-llluminated (ideally by a diffuse source, such as natural light coming in from a window (make sure it is not direct sunlight)).
- Please, note that we will reserve 10 pts of the grade for the quality of this video. Please, make sure that it is in HD and a mp4 file. We also expect a nicely produced video, that has a good story flow and is of decent image and sound quality. We would like to use some of your footage for posting on makecourse.com, i.e. please, make an effort that your videos look professional.
Deliverable 7c (10% of final grade): Publish an Instructable about your project (you need to make an account at instructables.com for this if you do not have one already):
- The goal of the Instructable is to enable other Makers to reproduce your project, and to learn in the process how to document a project with sufficient detail that others can build it without you being available for comment/discussion. This is an important skill needed in most creative professions.
- The Instructable needs to provide a full description of the building process. There needs to be a circuit schematic and an discussion of the functionality of your circuit, as well as a discussion of the design of your 3D parts and their functionality.
- The Instructable needs to contain the fully commented code and a code description. This description should give an overview of all components of your code (classes, functions, ISRs etc...) and explain how they interact and what each part is doing.
- All Instructables need to start with this paragraph: "This instructable was created in fulfillment of the project requirement of the Makecourse at the University of South Florida (www.makecourse.com)"
- The URL of the instructable needs to be uploaded in Canvas.
Grading:
- To get 80 pts: Present an awesome project, submit an awesome video, and write an awesome Instructable! "A" stands for 'awesome'! Watch your video before uploading it to Canvas and remedy deficiencies. Make sure the instructable contains all information necessary that another maker can understand how it is done. Show your video and nice pictures, and a commented version of your code.
- If you additionally show the start paragraph in your instructable (see above) you can get 100 pts.
Late submissions: We will not accept late submissions for Deliverables 7a and 7b.
